My inspiration based on silhouettes and double exposure is an artist called Dan Mountford. His work inspires me because he also layers his work with something else, it could be another piece of work, a background or a scene. Dan's work always looks interesting because he creates double exposure images which always tell a story.
The main focus of this double exposure work are the lines through the portrait/ silhouette which represent his brain. this could refer to how he is feeling and what his thoughts are. This image looks peaceful and it could mean what type of person he is. The reason that I think this looks peaceful is because of the background, within the silhouette, which looks like a harbour and the clouds in the models head could represent his thoughts.
Dan Mountford influences my work because the visual effects and backgrounds that he portrays has a meaning. Even though they might seem that they don't, the double exposure could represent something more hidden like the artists thoughts or what they, as a person are like.
Dan Mountford's double exposure is really good because it is like a silhouette inside of his work, as well as it focusing on the background. I find this really interesting because it is very unique and you don't see a lot of or even any artwork like this.
These images are examples of double exposure by Dan Mountford and they inspire me because every single piece of his work, looks like it has a story behind it or a meaning to it, even if it doesn't. It could have a sad or a serious background and it is really effective. Every picture that includes a model looks more interesting and like it has a depth. The models make the picture look more focused and as if there is more to the picture than what is shown.
This piece of work by Dan Mountford is very unique compared to what he usually portrays. It is bright and colourful which isn't usually a main focus of Dan's as his work is normally very serious, dark and has a meaning behind it, however this doesn't look anything like that.
These images really inspired my double exposure / silhouettes project because the work portrayed is very neat and professional.
Below are more examples of double exposure that influence my more recent work. These examples were not created by Dan Mountford, but I found them displayed on Pinterest, these images were anonymous and didn’t show or mention an artist.
I really like these double exposure examples because they are unique. The use of colour is very enthusiastic and it is my type of work. I think because double exposure work usually has a depth, it doesn’t mean that it always has to be black or white or even miserable. These pieces of work could have a fun background and by the look of it, they do. And this is why I enjoy I enjoy double exposure so much, because it is very unique and every single piece of work can be extremely different.
